New music for piano
Concert Recap: Secluded Voices at St Mary le Strand, London
On Wednesday, St Mary le Strand in London hosted a remarkable concert titled “Secluded Voices,” featuring the distinguished pianist Joseph Havlat. The evening’s program included three of my piano compositions, performed alongside works by other esteemed composers such as Edward Nesbit and Thomas Hyde.
Program Notes for My Compositions
The three piano pieces presented in this program were composed in 2023, deeply inspired by the poetry of Sohrab Sepehri, a renowned contemporary Persian poet. These compositions delve into Sepehri’s evocative themes, particularly his reflections on the importance of the present moment and the concept of “now.”
The musical materials, including intervallic and rhythmic elements, are intricately shaped by the phonetic nuances found within Sepehri’s poetry. The semantic and philosophical foundations of the text are pivotal, guiding the structure and emotional landscape of each piece.
Each composition represents a unique interpretation and exploration of various aspects and influences derived from Sepehri’s poetry. A distinctive feature of these works is their partially improvisatory nature, which merges spontaneous piano improvisations with the generation of musical ideas on paper during the composition process.
These pieces aim to capture the essence of Sepehri’s poetry, creating a profound connection between music and literature, and inviting listeners to experience the emotional and philosophical depth of the poet’s work through a contemporary musical lens.

seven pieces for piano
In 2019, during my first year of PhD studies at King’s College London, I composed Seven Pieces for Piano, which were performed on 24 November 2024 in Malaysia alongside works by Sir George Benjamin, Edward Nesbit, Thomas Hyde, and other distinguished composers. The performance, delivered by the talented pianist Vikki Chen, highlighted the diverse influences that shaped these pieces. Drawing inspiration from multiple texts, I explored how literary ideas could inform musical structure and expression, continuing my commitment to integrating text and music in innovative ways.

Publication of The Lines
I am thrilled to announce the publication of my book, The Lines, which features seven selected scores and commentaries from my compositions spanning 2013 to 2023. Published by the renowned Mahour Publications in Iran, this collection showcases works for various ensembles, including vocal ensembles, string quintet, voice and piano, solo piano, and more. The Lines is accompanied by an audio format, featuring recordings of these pieces performed in Austria and the United Kingdom, providing a comprehensive and immersive experience of the compositions.
